About Dr. Anthony Schepsis
An orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with a rich degree of expertise as a practitioner, consultant, clinical researcher, and professor, Anthony Schepsis, MD, lives and works in the greater Boston metropolitan area. With more than three decades of experience in his field, he set the stage for his career as an undergraduate and, later, as a medical student at Boston University. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Anthony Schepsis remained at Boston University to fulfill his general surgical internship and subsequent residency in orthopedic surgery at Boston Medical Center. After completing a one-year fellowship in traveling orthopedic sports medicine, Dr. Schepsis launched a diversified career in medicine, cultivating a unique expertise in orthopedic surgery and training future generations of health care professionals.
Widely recognized for his accomplishments as a teacher, Dr. Anthony Schepsis has served as an Instructor at the Bouve College of Physical Therapy at Northeastern University, Clinical Instructor of Orthopedics and Physical Therapy at Sargent College of Physical Therapy, and as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine. A highly active clinical researcher as well, Dr. Anthony Schepsis has published articles in a number of peer-reviewed journals, including Techniques in Knee Surgery, the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, and the American Journal of Orthopedics.
Dr. Schepsis is considered a worldwide expert in the management of patellofemoral disorders, including instability, malalignment, and arthritis. He is also a leading world expert in the surgical management of pectoralis major ruptures. Other unique areas of his expertise include cartilage replacement and restoration procedures in the knee and shoulder, and focal anatomic resurfacing procedures in the knee and shoulder, as well as multiligament injuries in the knee.
As a consultant, Dr. Anthony Schepsis has worked with top-ranked collegiate and professional athletes, treating NFL players, members of the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Olympic Hockey Teams, and World Wrestling Entertainment stars, to name a few of his engagements.
